STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS

Rolling Service Doors are to be Acme Model (see page 3 of catalog) as manufactured by Acme Rolling Steel Door Corporation - Ridgefield, NJ (800) 281-5680.

Operation: Doors to be manual push-up operation with lift handles (M); chain hoist operated using gear reduction and galvanized handchain (C); awning crank using gears and removable handle (CR); motor operated (MO).

Mounting: To be interior face mounted on a prepared opening (FW); interior mounted between jambs and under lintel in a prepared opening (BJ); exterior face mounted on a prepared opening (FWX).

Work Not Included: Work Not Included: Opening preparation, miscellaneous or structural steel, access panels, finish or field painting, electrical wires, wiring, disconnect switches, mounting of controls, conduit are in the scope of the work of other sections or trades.

Curtains: Curtains shall be constructed of interlocking cold roll formed continuous slats of galvanized steel (aluminum or stainless steel). Steel slats available in 22 (20 or 18) gauge material. Slats to be curved CS (flat F) type galvanized with a coating of zinc as per ASTM standards Doors designed to satisfy windload of 20 PSF (87 MPH) Special windloads are available, consult factory.

Endlocks: The ends of alternate (continuous) slats shall be fitted with (malleable iron) endlocks to act as a wearing surface in the guides and prevent lateral movement of slats.

Bottom Bar: Bottom bar shall consist of two galvanized steel angles (aluminum or stainless steel) of equal weight and size, one on each side.

Counterbalance Shaft: Roller shaft shall be of steel pipe of sufficient diameter to reduce deflection so as not to exceed 0.03 inch per foot of span. Springs are to be grease packed and are to be mounted on a cold rolled steel inner shaft. Springs shall be capable of producing sufficient torque to assure easy operation of the door curtain from any position. Spring tension shall be adjustable by means of an adjusting wheel on the end bracket.

Bracket Plates: Brackets shall be of minimum ¼" thick steel (galvanized steel) designed to form an end closure support for the hood and fitted with self lubricating bronze bearings or permanently lubricated sealed ball bearings.

Guides: Guides shall be formed of structural steel (galvanized steel or stainless steel) angles minimum 3/16" thickness and of sufficient depth to retain curtain in place under specified windload. Guides shall be attached to jambs, plumb and true by bolts of not less than 3/8 " diameter, spaced not more than 30 inches on center.

Hoods: Hoods shall be not less than 24 gauge hot dipped galvanized steel (aluminum or stainless steel) formed to fit contour of end brackets in a neat manner and reinforced with stiffening rolls at top and bottom edges. Hoods over 12'-0" shall be laterally reinforced with internal hood supports to prevent sagging.

Locking: Slide bolts on bottom bar for manual push-up doors (Hand Chain Lock: locking bracket for handchain mounted on guide angle) (Integral Gearing: of motor operator to provide locking for door).

Finish: Non-galvanized surfaces (except bearings) shall be given one coat of factory applied rust inhibiting primer.

ERECTION All doors shall be erected by the manufacturer or his authorized representative, having a minimum of five (5) years experience in the installation of similar type doors. Install bracing and supports as necessary to rigidly secure door operating equipment.


OPTIONAL FEATURES

Motor Operation: (add) Motor operator to include high starting torque motor, reduction gearing, solenoid brake, limit switches for upper and lower limits of door travel, emergency hand chain with electrical interlock to break motor circuit when hand chain is engaged, magnetic relay contactor, overload protection, pre-wired terminal block and 3 button operating station. Motor is to be removable for repair without effecting emergency operation. Manufacturer to furnish wiring diagram. Field wiring not included in this section.


Safety Edge: (add) Safety edges are to be furnished for motor operated doors. Upon contact with obstruction door is to stop and reverse to open position. Field wiring is not included in this section.

Vision Lites: (add) Can be provided in flat slat curtains. Furnish clear acrylic plastic sections over individual slat cutouts, each 6" wide x 1-1/4" high, in sets of eight cutouts, four slats high, two cutouts wide. (Perforated slats can be provided each 6" wide x 1 1/4" high or furnish 1/16" diameter holes spaced 3/32" on center). 

Weatherstripping: (add) Doors to be "Air Seal" fully weather-stripped at sill, hood and at guides (must use flat slat curtains.) 

Optional Primed Finish: (add) Galvanized slats shall have a baked-on coat of epoxy modified polyester. 

Locking: (add) Furnish cylinder locks on bottom bars. Cylinder locks on motorized doors to include electrical interlock to prevent door operation while locked. 

Wicket Doors: (add) Furnish 2'-6" x 6'-8" hollow metal pass door within rolling door as shown on "Special Applications & Products" page. Hollow metal pass door frame is to be hinged to rolling door guide to swing clear of opening when desired. Includes lockset and cane bolt.

Sloped Bottom Bar: (add) Furnish to suit the slope of the floor across the width of the opening, (Coil must be raised if sloped bottom bar is to clear the opening when the door is open).
